We completed the BIOMASS project – we performed the final tests of the Ground Handling Adapter (GHA) and the Vibration Test Adapter (VTA), and then we delivered the set that we designed to the Customer, Airbus Defence and Space. The adapters are currently used for the integration and testing of the ESA BIOMASS satellite. GHA takes part in the satellite integration, while VTA was integrated with the vibration table.
The satellite will be responsible for measuring forest biomassand it will provide key information about the condition of our forest and the occurring changes. Trees are an integral and important part of our environment: they contain hints as to our common future. The gathered information will extend our knowledge about the climate change. The satellite launch is scheduled in 2022 and the mission will take 5 years.
